Will The Lombardi Trophy Be Named For Tom Brady?

NFL coaching legend Bill Belichickrecently sparked controversy on the “Let’s Go” podcast by suggesting that the Super Bowl’s Vince LombardiTrophy should be renamed for former star quarterback Tom Brady.

Currently, the trophy is named for the Green Bay Packers head coach whose teams won the first two Super Bowls. To many, that trophy name seems as embedded in league lore as the NHL’s Stanley Cup.

According to an MSN story, changing the trophy’s name “could face resistance from traditionalists who value the league’s storied past.”

“Renaming the Lombardi Trophy to honor Tom Brady is far from a guaranteed outcome,” MSN noted, “but Belichick’s suggestion has certainly sparked a conversation."
