infoUlrik Bengtsson is set to step down as the chairman of Raketech later this year, after accepting a f f1 stake
Bengtsson has informed the board that his new role will require him to resign as chairman and board member.
However, he has committed to staying on until 30 July to assist with the transition.
Raketech’s nomination committee has begun the process of identifying a new board member, who may also assume the role of non-executive chair.
Bengtsson has not yet disclosed the name or industry of his new company.
“Stepping back into a full-time CEO role feels like the right professional move for me, and the opportunity I have been presented with is compelling,” Bengtsson said.
“I am confident that the entire Raketech board and executive team remain dedicated to strengthening the balance sheet and shaping an exciting strategy that I expect will be unveiled to investors in the coming months.
“I firmly believe Raketech has the potential to be a key player in the global iGaming ecosystem, both now and in the future, and that the company is well-positioned to generate substantial returns for all shareholders over time.”
Bengtsson’s career journey
Bengtsson joined Raketech in May 2021, shortly before stepping down as CEO of William Hill, as the company prepared for acquisition by 888 (now evoke).
He originally joined William Hill in April 2018 as chief digital officer, before being promoted to CEO in September 2019.
During his tenure, he oversaw the formation of William Hill International following the acquisition of Nordic online casino operator Mr Green.
He also played a key role in expanding William Hill’s digital strategy as the business transitioned from retail into omni-channel and online gambling in the UK.
Before William Hill, Bengtsson spent five years as CEO of Malta-based Betsson Group.
Following his departure from William Hill, Bengtsson held several part-time advisory and board positions, including at online travel agent Hostelworld.
Bengtsson has also informed Hostelworld’s board of his decision to step down as chairman and non-executive director, with his tenure set to end on 31 October.
Meanwhile, he also currently serves as chairman of City Gaming, which has yet to confirm whether he will step down from that position as well.
